After a few beers and perusing the lotro forums i found some dumb asses bitching about cusswords. And pretty vehemently too. Just because someone asked why another person would turn off the profanity filter, listen to a statement made with a warning before hand and then report the person for using profanity... I posted a little reply and just in case it gets erased for calling someone stupid or for saying boobies... here is a copy then a link to the post...
Ya have to understand that most of the people that complain are idiots. Granted almost everyone is as well including myself so honestly it is no excuse.
People fear words more so than the meaning of the word. It is ingrained. We are taught that the alphabet can be rearranged in such a way as to destroy the moral/regular fiber of our lives.
Example.
Darn you to H-E-Double Hockey stick. <- completely legal/ok/not bad/etc.
____ you to ____ <- very bad and will make grown men cry (granted not as bad as others...)
They mean exactly the same thing. There is not difference between the two. But, someone told Offendee A that it is bad, and Offendee A not being able to think for itself says okay.
Any rational thought will show you that its not the words its the meaning behind the words/emotions/feelings/facial expressions/etc.
But then again what do I know I'm Just some Freaking Stupid butt meanie pants who is only like 12 years old and is infatuated with boobies.
